Notifications, Priorities, and Damage and Cause Codes

Module 2 Est. 2.5 h · estimate · draft

Lesson 2-3Audience: BothPrerequisites: Lessons 2-1 and 2-2DRAFT · unverified

What you'll be able to do

  • Create, change and list notifications
  • Record damage, cause and downtime in a technical confirmation

Why it matters in the plant

A notification is how a problem or request enters the system. The findings recorded on it become the history used for later improvement.

Steps and transactions

1Create a notification

A notification records a problem or request, for example high vibration found on a route. Notification types and priority definitions: TBD: owner to supply.

Craft notes

Mechanical: high vibration on a route (script example). I&E: no example in the sources TBD: owner to supply.

2Work the notification list

IW28 changes notifications as a list, and IW29 displays them.

Craft notes

Same for both crafts.

3Record damage, cause and downtime

The technical confirmation is recorded on the notification (directly in IW22, or through the order-based IW42). It records the cause of damage, the work performed, the damage location and machine downtime. When the notification is completed, this goes into notification history. Code catalog setup: TBD: owner to supply.

Craft notes

Same for both crafts.

Common mistakes

  • Editing a routine PM order to record a corrective finding: raise a notification instead (Module 1, Lesson 4) [S11].

Check your understanding

  1. Which transaction creates a PM notification?
  2. Name two things a technical confirmation records.
  3. Where does technical confirmation data go when the notification is completed?

Answer key

  1. IW21 [S11]
  2. Any two of: damage cause, work performed, damage location, machine downtime [S22]
  3. Notification history [S22]
